Listen..
Music.
How can there be so much power behind what seems to be such a small word.
Music is life's story in notes and lyrics.
Through out my life music has kept me sane, made me crazy and recently brought me literally to my knees.
Music can pull you back in time, help you with a current moment or take you to the future.
There has never been a day that i haven't let it move me in some way.. given myself to the notes either in my head , radio or ipod.
I have to wonder if more people let their anger, love, sadness out in song would the world be such a hostile place. I hate to think the world would be like a musical were we resolved problems like dancing street fights. Could we though at least put our thoughts as lyrics and let the notes be loud if angry and soft if loving.
Its a wonderful thing to share with a friend a new song, artist or introduce them to a new genre they may have never thought they would like.
Not being musical myself i am, for lack of a better words, envious of the people in my life that can sing or play an instrument.
I meet Margie on a plane almost a year ago.. a girl in the seat next to me with her guitar and stars in her soul that shined through her eyes. She has the voice of an angel and the skill on a guitar to make you stop and take notice. Her music has been recorded and is now for sale..
David.. the young man that was brave enough to call my work and ask about the girl that rang up his purchase for his "sister"..
a true talented musician who can sing and play so well he has local gigs where the ladies pack the room to hear and see him.
and lastly a friend that has written, sang and played just as a past time but from the heart..
I'm thankful to have a large appetite for a variety of music, people sometimes don't explore all there is and its a shame.
Do we sometimes not allow ourselves to hear what is behind the beat of a rap song or the meaning behind a tune with no words at all?
Opening our mind and heart to the beat and rhythm of the world around us may just help us heal our soul and could help us be one step closer to Peace in our hearts.
the bottom line is listen to the music around you even if is something different you may discover a part of your soul has been waiting for that beat or those lyrics.
