Everyone has heard the expression " A dog's life" ... what does that really mean?!

I have a dog, Harvey. He is a long haired Dachshund black with brown markings, he looks like a family member. Harvey came to be a member of the Magana house quite simply because I had no control of my emotions when i saw those big brown eyes and his stubby legs as he seemingly trotted up to see me.

What kind of life does a dog like Harvey have and would I want one similar?

For those of us that have pets whether it be dogs or cats we all know on some level they are indeed more like our kids then we all like to admit. After having two kids i definitely know the difference but sometimes the line people are on is crowded by pet clothes and pocket puppy handbags. I have seen the young woman without kids carry or push her pooch around and the older woman whose kids have moved on do the same. Is this a case of needing a filler or a womanly desire to care for something that needs us?

oh I'm sure Harvey if he knew how some of the other dogs had it would be a little envious. Going places, cool clothes, the latest and greatest in travel accessories but would he be as loved by someone that gave him all that he thought he needed.

Like a child Harvey believes to his core that we are all here to meet his needs by feeding him, walking him and petting him all on his schedule. Is he happy to see me when i come home or just thinking " thank god your here for me" ...

He has a life of leisure.. someone feeds him, walks him, takes him to the dog groomer and he has two homes where people love him unconditionally. As he sits next to me so close it feels like he is connected and when he follows me from room to room stalking me it can sometimes feel annoying. Turning around and almost tripping on him or getting off the couch to realizing he has gone to sleep under your feet so when you do move he is the first to know makes me frustrated.

A dogs life.. would i want it? Some days...if I could pick my family!

The bottom line is whether a dogs life or a human's they are both filled with those that make our tails wag even if they annoy us!
