Times like these...
Its times like these.. you learn to live again
Its times like these ... you give and give again
Its times like these... you learn to love again
Its times like these time and time again
I heard this song today and it seemed to linger in the the air and follow me like a fog above my head.
There are minutes, days, weeks, and years in our lives when we make choices and of course never know what the outcome will be.
When we are young and the end of the day or week seems like an eternity and a person that has made it to middle age is old, the rest of our lives may seem mapped and obvious. Would it not be great to have the optimism of a young child about the future all the time? To see the world in our neighborhood as Beaver Cleaver saw it, rosy and simplistic.
I have never been a fan of chick flicks, you know the ones about the girl finding "the" guy, the happily ever after, 2 kids, the white picket fence , two dogs and a car that has a heated steering wheel. OK maybe the heated steering wheel is a stretch...
I am raising two girls and I have thought long and hard about what I want them to see is possible for their lives.
and it is Times like these I want them to see the possibilities are endless.
If I took a right turn at the stop light or a left would something different have happened? If I hadn't broken up with that boy, would he have been here today? What if i had taken door number one instead of three...
Much like the movie Sliding Doors is there an alternate universe where we do the opposite and is it better or worse?
My dad believes there are no coincidences.. I am not sure what I think. Life is definitely a learning process and one that has taken me on a journey with twists and turns. But i can't help but wonder if my choices had been different would I have been here today and the end of "this" day.
But this I do know for a fact.. Life is great and those that I have chosen to be a constant are here for a reason and those that are here for a short time also have a purpose. I hope during this time my girls see that our decisions make us who we are in the end and which ever door we take it was right for us.
The bottom line is... its times like these were whether it's coincidence or not... we learn, live and love again.
Its times like these ... you give and give again
Its times like these... you learn to love again
Its times like these time and time again
